What do you get when you take a leather club and add an overly geeky president who loves Sci Fi, and has not one, but two Star Trek uniforms in his closet next to his leather? You get "Close Encounters," the Atons' Gopher XVIII Run, July 18-20, 2008.

The July 1st early registration deadline is fast approaching, so before you get too caught up in June Pride events, or world conquering, take a moment to register for our run. Our early registration rate of $140 is good through July 1, and then goes up to $160.  

Our little space camp is located in a secluded wooded area in southern Minnesota. From orbit we can spot fully modern coed bath and shower facilities, a big building that looks like a dining hall, and several smaller buildings that are probably cabins. As part of our intergalacticly renowned hospitality, we will provide at least two portable cooling units to temperature regulate a couple cabins for those species who need a colder climate, like Canadians.

If you bring your own spaceship or RV, remember that there are no sanitation hookups. And you will need to hover below the tree line to avoid scaring the locals.

When you pack your zero-g suitcase for the journey, be sure to bring some supplies for decorating your crew quarters, and something to wear for our sci-fi costume banquet. (I hear that silver lame is all the rage with the humans!) Of course, bring all the toys and supplies you want for our two dungeon cabins.

Since man can't live off Tang alone, we will be providing all meals during the weekend. We will also have plenty of water and carbonated drinks (soda, cola, coke… whatever!), and a keg or two of beer.
