Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out our Community Safety & Inclusivity Survey earlier this year. Your willingness to share your experiences and ideas is what makes this work possible.
After reviewing the survey data, written responses, and holding multiple open community meetings, Minnesota Leather Pride has landed on some concrete next steps we’re committed to pursuing to improve safety, equity, and access at our events.
What We Heard
A few clear themes came up in your feedback: a need for improved event safety, interest in holding events at locations outside of bars, and a desire for ongoing, transparent communication between organizations and the community about the issues that affect us.
We take these themes seriously, and we’re grateful to have a clearer picture of where to focus our energy.
What We’re Doing
MNLP is moving forward on the following as first steps.
Event Liaisons
At MNLP events, we will have a designated event liaison on site. Liaisons are there to help answer questions, give directions, and connect attendees with venue services. For example, a liaison can help you find restrooms, get you connected with onsite security if needed, or answer general questions about the event.
Liaisons will be easy to spot. Look for a photo, colored lanyard, or another visual indicator that marks them as someone who can assist you during the event.

Really disappointing that the community can communicate to you that they’ve experienced racism, transphobia, ableism, sexism, assault, harassment, and more at the saloon (and other venues) and your response is to hire someone for events that can help “find the restroom”?
