Statement from MN Leather Pride Board

Minnesota Leather Pride exists to uplift the voices of our entire community. Pride as a concept was birthed by bisexual trans women of color, combating the police as an oppressive force and institution. As an organization that embraces these truths, our community, and we as individuals, must not remain silent in the face of oppression, which has been highlighted by the recent murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department.

We stand with our Black community, we stand with people of color, and we believe Black Lives Matter. It is imperative that in the spirit of Pride we amplify and support our Black community. We encourage each and every one of you to learn more about and contribute your efforts toward these Black-led, community organizations fighting for equality and for justice with direct action.

Minnesota Leather Pride has chosen to make a financial contribution to Black Visions Collective which is a Black-led, Queer and Trans centering organization whose mission is to organize powerful, connected Black communities and dismantle systems of violence.
